Week of November 2, 2026 | Lamentations 3:22–23
The Scripture
“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22–23, ESV
Jeremiah wrote these words sitting in the ruins of Jerusalem. The city was burned. People he loved were gone. Most of the book is honest grief. And right in the middle of it, he remembers something that hasn’t changed: God’s love hasn’t run out, and His mercy shows up again every morning.
Apply it to life
Maybe you’re starting this week tired of yourself. Yesterday you snapped at your kids. Last week you went back to the thing you swore you were done with. The alarm went off and the first thing you felt was dread about a shift, a bill, or a conversation you’ve been avoiding.
God doesn’t hand you yesterday’s leftovers. His mercy for today wasn’t used up by yesterday’s failures. You don’t have to earn your way back to Him this morning. You just have to receive what He’s already giving.
One practice for this week: before you check your phone each morning, say one sentence out loud: “Your mercies are new this morning, Lord.” Then start the day from there, not from yesterday.
A prayer for this week
Lord, thank You that Your steadfast love never ceases. You know where I fell short last week, and You still meet me with mercy this morning. Wash away what I’m carrying from yesterday. Give me grace for today’s work, today’s people, and today’s battles. Great is Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
